Overview
Listing items on eBay is simple, safe, and free. You have a monthly allowance of free listings and only pay for selected listing options and transaction fees when the item is actually sold.
General Fee Overview
Below is a summary of the main costs applicable to most private sellers listing on ebay.fr:
Stage | Item | Amount/Rule |
---|---|---|
Listing creation | Insertion fees | Free up to 150 listings/month |
Listing creation | Listing options | You pay only if selected (see table in “Listing options”) |
Sale | Final value fee | 10% of the total sale amount + 0.35 EUR per order (see detailed brackets) |
Sale | Regulatory operating fees | 0.42% of the total sale amount |
Note:
In addition to the above, extra costs may apply depending on category, sale price, and chosen options.
Final Value Fee
The final value fee applies only when the item is sold; you don’t deal with third-party payment fees. It includes:
- 0.35 EUR per order (an “order” occurs when the same buyer purchases one or more items in the same checkout with the same shipping service).
- A percentage on the total sale amount:
- 10% on the portion of amount ≤ 2,000 EUR
- 2% on the portion of amount > 2,000 EUR
Total sale amount: sum paid by the buyer, including shipping costs, delivery service chosen by the buyer, VAT, and other applicable taxes/fees.
Note:
Different fees apply for the Cars & Motorcycles category (see dedicated section). If the item is not sold, you generally do not pay the final value fee. However, if you share or request contact details to close the sale outside of eBay, eBay may charge the final value fee calculated on the highest of: fixed price, auction starting price, “Buy It Now” price, reserve price, or price agreed between the parties.
Regulatory Operating Fees
Upon sale, a 0.42% fee is applied to the total sale amount (item price, shipping costs, delivery service chosen by the buyer, taxes, and other applicable charges).
International Transaction Fees
If the address associated with your account is in France, international sales fees apply when the buyer’s shipping address is not in the Eurozone or Sweden.
Calculation base: always the total sale amount (including shipping, chosen delivery service, VAT, and other charges). Fees are automatically deducted from proceeds.
Eurozone and Sweden | Europe* (outside Eurozone, Sweden, and United Kingdom) / USA and Canada | United Kingdom | All other countries |
---|---|---|---|
Free | 1.92% | 1.44% | 3.96% |
Note:
Europe includes: Albania, Andorra, Azerbaijan, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Belarus, Czechia, Denmark, Faroe Islands, Georgia, Åland Islands, Vatican City, Hungary, Iceland, Kazakhstan, Liechtenstein, Monaco, Moldova, Montenegro, Norway, Poland, Romania, Russia, San Marino, Serbia, Svalbard and Jan Mayen, Switzerland, Turkey, Ukraine, North Macedonia.
If your account address is not in France, please check the fee page of your Country/Region (see “Useful links”).
VAT and charges: French VAT is included in all fees listed on this page; for sellers outside France, VAT rates may vary. eBay fees are automatically deducted and the balance is paid to your bank account.
Insertion Fees (Listings)
- You can create up to 150 free listings per month; the limit can increase if you have an eBay Store.
- After exceeding the free monthly quota: 0.35 EUR per additional listing.
- Different fees apply to the Cars & Motorcycles category (see dedicated section).
When charged: the insertion fee is charged once at listing creation, unless you choose to relist manually.
- Automatically relisted auctions do not generate additional insertion fees.
- Monthly renewals of “Good ‘Til Cancelled” (GTC) listings do not generate new insertion fees and do not count against the free allowance.
Note:
Selling limits may apply that prevent use of the full free allowance. Also check the conditions and exclusions regarding free listings.
eBay Store – Basic Plan
If you regularly sell many items, you can save with an eBay Store (Basic Plan). Final value fees, regulatory fees, and option costs remain as described above.
Item | Detail |
---|---|
Monthly subscription | 19.94 EUR |
Free allowance (Auction or Fixed Price) | 250 listings/month |
Cost beyond quota | 0.35 EUR for Auction listings 0.15 EUR for Fixed Price listings |
The Basic Store subscription also includes access to the Sales Manager and Sales Manager Pro.
Currency Conversion Fees (Seller)
Charged by eBay SARL as part of payment services. When you list or sell on an international eBay site, eBay may convert funds into another currency to:
- collect any amounts owed (e.g., insertion/option fees), or
- send payouts to you.
Transaction exchange rate: includes the base rate from wholesale markets (or official reference rates if required by law/regulation) + a conversion fee (fixed percentage retained by eBay).
For accounts with an address in France, the conversion fee is 3%. If the address is not in France, check your Country/Region fee page.
Other General Conditions
- In case of refund to the buyer or order cancellation, you may obtain a fee credit according to applicable rules.
- Costs may apply if you end an auction early.
- Insertion fees and option fees apply to each listing created and are charged upon publication or manual relist; they are non-refundable. If you select multiple categories, insertion and option fees apply to each category.
- In case of failed payment or arrears, eBay may limit or suspend services.
- Unless otherwise stated, the fees on this page apply to listings on ebay.fr; publishing on other eBay sites (e.g., eBay.com, eBay.de) may involve different fees.
- Insertion fees do not grant exclusive rights on eBay pages: eBay may display third-party ads and listings from other sellers on any page at its discretion.
