Overview
Selling on eBay is simple, safe, and free for most private sellers. Each month you have a number of free listings available and you only pay a fee when you make a sale. Fees apply based on the type of listing, the optional features selected, and the characteristics of the transaction.
This documentation describes in detail all applicable fees for private sellers on eBay.it, including final value fees, listing fees, costs for additional selling options, special fees for Cars and Motorcycles categories, eBay Store costs, and how currency conversion works.
Fee Overview
Here are the main fees applicable to private sellers:
Type of fee | Description |
---|---|
Listing fee | Free up to 150 listings per month |
Final value fee | 5% of the total sale amount + €0.35 per order |
Regulatory fee | 0.43% of the total sale amount |
In addition to these, other fees may apply depending on the category, price, or additional options.
Final Value Fees
The final value fee is charged only if the item is sold. It consists of:
- 5% of the total sale amount up to €2,000
- 2% for the portion exceeding €2,000
- + €0.35 per order
“Total sale amount” means the amount paid by the buyer, including shipping, packaging, VAT, and other taxes.
An order corresponds to any number of items purchased in a single transaction with the same shipping method.
Note:
No fee is charged if the item is not sold, unless contact details are exchanged with the buyer to complete the sale outside of eBay.
The categories Cars, Motorcycles, and other Vehicles follow different fees.
Regulatory Fee
For every sale, a fee equal to 0.43% of the total sale amount is applied.
This percentage covers compliance-related costs and is calculated including item price, shipping, packaging, and taxes.
International Fee
If your registered address is in Italy and the buyer provides a delivery address outside the Eurozone or Sweden, an additional fee applies:
Destination | Fee |
---|---|
Eurozone and Sweden | Free |
Europe* (outside the Eurozone, excluding Sweden and UK), USA, and Canada | 1.95% |
United Kingdom | 1.46% |
All other countries | 4.03% |
Note:
The list of European countries outside the Eurozone includes, among others, Albania, Norway, Switzerland, Turkey, and Ukraine.

Currency Conversion for Sellers
When selling items on international eBay sites, payments may be converted into another currency.
- eBay uses an exchange rate based on wholesale market rates, adding a 3% conversion fee (for Italian sellers).
- This fee is deducted directly during the currency conversion.
- If the seller is not based in Italy, the percentages may vary depending on the country.
Other Terms and Conditions
- If you refund the buyer or cancel the order, you may receive a fee credit.
- Ending an auction early may generate additional costs.
- Applied fees are non-refundable and apply at the time of listing.
- Listings with multiple categories generate multiple fees.
- In case of non-payment of fees, eBay may limit or suspend services.
- Fees vary depending on the eBay site (e.g., eBay.com or eBay.de).
- Payment of fees does not grant exclusive rights to pages: eBay may display third-party ads.
For more details, see the international pages dedicated to fees in each country.
