FAQ - Why does my order show a negative or incorrect profit?
The profit of your order may appear negative or incorrect for several reasons. Below are the main causes explained in detail.
1. Sponsorship value too high
If you use sponsorship values that are too high compared to the profits set in your eBay account, you risk canceling out your profit margin.
For example, if you set low profits and at the same time assign a high sponsorship budget, the sponsorship fee you pay to eBay will exceed or cancel out your potential earnings, causing the order to result in a loss.
2. Low profit margins and below-standard seller level
If your profit percentages or amounts are low and your seller level is classified as below standard, you will pay extra fees to eBay for each sale.
These additional fees will further reduce your profit, and in some cases may even make it negative.
3. Monitor not updated in time
The monitor may not have updated your listing immediately after a change to the product on the supplier’s site (e.g., Amazon).
Price and availability updates do not happen in real time, so it may happen that you receive an order during the time window when:
- The supplier has changed the product’s price or availability.
- Your eBay listing has not yet been synchronized with the update.
In this case, you might sell a product at an incorrect price or one that is no longer available. This scenario is rare, but it can occur.
